Introduction

T-ped approval per SBF100-23-062 for the Fokker 70 and Fokker 100 aircraft, including the update of the limitations sections of the AFM.

For non-Fokker aircraft, Fokker Services can support the operational approval and/or provide an STC upon the operators choice.

Your needs

Activate Wi-Fi on board of your aircraft !

Fokker Service can provide you with testing and an engineering test result report which can support your request to your authority to apply for an operational approval for the use of Wi-Fi systems on board of your aircraft. This can be systems like the Bluebox Walk-on wiFE system.

These test will prove that the there is no adverse effects with the (T)-ped switched on to the aircraft, even when transmitting in with certain frequencies.

This is stated in RCTA DO-294C.

Basically this proposal contains two phases:

1, Passive PED testing

2. Wi-Fi testing (both 2.4 and 5 Ghz band) (includes bluetooth)

Add 1. The passive (non-transmitting ) PED (Personal Electronic Device) is required to allow passenger to have their personal electronic devises like smartphone, tablet and laptops operational in the so-called flight mode.

This requires an extensive substantiation with a ground testing. In this particular case we assume that there is not a generic PED approval for this aircraft type. This will result in a test report with an advice if and in which phase of flight the PED’s may be switched on. We aim for use of the equipment from gate-to gate, however we may have to limit it during certain flight phases depending the outcome of the testing, for instance precision approaches.

Further it should be noted that devices over 1 kg in weight should be stowed during take-off and landing for safety reasons.

Add 2. In case the PED- testing is successful, Fokker Services can continue with the testing of the Wi-Fi system which is intended to be used, and for which a flight test may be required.

As a result, Fokker Services will issue an Engineering Report that the operator can use the apply for an operational approval with her authority.

Alternatively an STC with subsequent AFM supplement can be offered under EASA approval, provide the tests do support this.

Your benefits

The Service Bulletin substitutes the need for a local program to prove that the aircraft is comliant with rule making applicable to T-PED's.
